Non responsive to requests for parts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On a recent trip, our shower door shattered. I wanted to get the part so I could use the shower again, but thus far, no one has returned my call.

I even submitted a request through the chat provided on their site with all the information for the part, and over a week has passed with no response from them. I ended up calling the manufacturer as the part broke just under the warranty period.

If I had waited for General to contact me, the warranty would have now expired and I would be solely responsible for the fix. Please consider looking elsewhere if you are in a similar situation, as their lack of response to consumers is seriously lacking.

In our opinion General rv is a very dishonest company. We tell everyone don't sign anything

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They talked us into putting $10,000 down on a motor home. They wore us down.

We r in our late 70s. When I ask if the money was refundable he said we'll work it out. They worked it out by refusing to give our money back.

Later we bought a MUCH Nicer motor home from JOHNNY'S rv in Theodore Alabama. They r incredible

My customer experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My wife and l go there to trade in our camper to with new one. Salesman was nice.

Till he,s done with us. Sales man put ridiculous high price camper delivery fee around $2500. He also put $150 labor for brake surge plug 5 minutes job. After hes done with us selling the camper.

He.s nothing to do with us anymore. Mr Steven German was great helped our concerns and answered all our needs and questions.

Mr Steven handled our concerns/questions politely and professionally. We tried to get help from employees half of staff we cant find them whoever in present they look the other way when we try to get their attention.

Bad customer service

After having soggy wood issue due to no washer in water tank had stabilizers alarms going off went back in to get that repaired July 16th and still dont have it back radio is supposed to be hands free for safety but its not and they are trying to find out who to blame and who is going to pay for expenses, Not exactly what I would call good customer service as its a brand new RV and had no problem taking cash for it but have a problem fixing it what a sham and after all the time they have it say so maybe you guys could wash it as youve had it over a month knowing we purchased it to take grandchildren out west and their response.its $200 to get it washed.and dont waste your time calling the head guy Jason QuIllen as he doesnt return your call they got there money your just a past customer

Terrible customer service!

We're scheduled for repairs, got a text the day before saying we need to reschedule, waiting for approval from Winnebago. The service advisor had completely dropped the ball! No apology from the advisor, like, 'Sorry for the inconvenience!' Don't take your RV there for service!

We also had an appointment tomorrow. We have been trying to contact the service department a few times yesterday, and finally today my husband spoke to someone in the service department.

My husband asked to speak with the supervisor and hours later still no call back! We also live 2 hours away and do not want to drive for an 8:30 a.m. appointment if the part is not in.

I think 10 days was plenty of time to get the jack in for the leveling system! This is a brand new Motorhome that we purchase in Michigan and they should have seen that there was a leak in the hydraulics when they did their so called check list.

yeah they are a terrible company they raised their rates and over charge you. things that should only take an hour they’ll mark it for 4. i’ve witnessed that

Issues in my unit I purchased

Updated by user Sep 16, 2024

I loss additional time this summer ( 1 month) because I had to have the check valve and wood trim replaced due to the check was broken. The second thing happen this summer was the cover for the awning motor came off during travel. Once Thor motor coach replaced it the main reason why the cover came off was because at the factory they never used srews to hold both half of the cover togetherThe third thing was the water connection inlet into the motorhome had to be replaced because it was defective. Camping world had to replace the inlet water connectionIf it's not one thing it's another

NO REPLY FROM gENERAL rv. aLL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW THEY UNCONVINCE YOU

Original review updated Sep 16, 2024
Better QC. They did not go over the unit's operation very well to verify all systems were working. Bad QC and customer service. Again, I would not recommend anyone buy a unit there. Camping World is 1000 percent better and understands customer service.
The general manger doesn't care nor does the customer service. They do not understand issues and they did noit check out the unit before selling it. The lastest was the check valve for the outside sink was broken and when using the sink the water soak the floor board and they had to replace all the wood trim including the check valve.
Another screw up by General RV. The owner is a non responcive people and he should be sued for his lies. The company video states that they take care of what they sell, *** I had to every single item corrected by Camping World and loss 4 months due to all the issues I discovered with my new Motorhome.
General RV of ASshland Virginia are common thief robber and ***

User's recommendation: Don’t buy any unit from them all they want is your money and customer service is terrible, The people who work there don’t are they sold me a lemon and didn’t care enough. And Camping world had to fix all of the issues. latest issues aprox three weeks ago was the outside sink check valve was found broken and the water destroyed the wood trim. Thor has approved to fix it undergarment. I would not even consider General RV as they are self center prop my s who only care about your money not you. They suck and if I was to rate them I would give them a-40

Horrible Purchase Experience….

I wish I could leave a 0 rating! We drove 8+ hours to deal with this location and put a deposit on a motorhome before we left.

Although our sales consultant was great, the motorhome was sold by another salesperson due to a cash offer on our sales consultants day off. We were never contacted until after the fact by the sales manager (Tom P.), who was rude and covering his tail since the fact that there was a contract on the unit already. No chance we would ever buy from General RV, or recommend them to anyone else. We have called the General RV corporate office and also, since we have followed Matt from Matts RV Reviews for quite some time and took the trek to General RV in Ocala because of his videos, we tried to contact Matt back, as we spoke to him by phone on the day of contract signing.

We have not heard back from anyone.

Funny thing is, when the cash deal fell through, they had the nerve to call to see if we were still interested. Find a local family RV dealership to deal with and stay away from the likes of General, and other dealership chains, they are all the same, promises, promises, promises, with no true ethics in the sales realm.

Worst customer service ever. Charge you for hours of diagnostics then say they dont know whats wrong and need 3-4 more hours to figure it out.

At $225.00 a hour. Then if they cant fix it too bad.

Paid $850.00 to get told they need more time. I think not. Did not return calls or emails.

Poor communication.

Then asked to not give a bad review on survey. Really!!

Red Flags Everywhere - we walked -beware folks

dWe started a purchase process with General in Ashland VA. Over the phone in setting the appointment we got initial pushback on being allowed to test drive the rig (can only test drive if you agree to buy it...no one should ever buy a vehicle they haven't driven first).

We challenged the idea and once at the appointment, we were 'allowed' to drive. However - originally, the salesman wanted us to drive a rig that was NOT the one we were serious about. One he was pushing while saying "I'm seriously not trying to push this one on you". More on that in a minute.

He had turned the generator off on the 'pushed' rig and it was a very hot day. The one we were more serious about was already a little cooler, so lo and behold, we were allowed to drive it.

Throughout the experience he spent more time explaining what a good guy he was and how he stood by his customers, been in the business 20 years and so on...than he did answering our questions about the rigs. He had several "I don't know" answers with "I will have to find out" but didn't really make an effort to do so. Toward the end of the appointment (which do be fair was about 3 hours, we drove from that far to get there and he know that so...), he showed us his schedule on the computer and how the sales people were assigned customers.

Because he had been marked busy with us, he 'missed' a number of walk-ins. Definitely an effort to make us feel we owed him something.

Caveat: we were crystal clear on the phone and during the appointment that this trip to their dealer was to help us narrow down what we were truly interested in. There would be no sale that day. We also had a number of things that hindered us schedule wise from moving forward until the end of the month - we were upfront.

He introduced us to the sales manager who was visibly startled we weren't ready to "buy".

Dial forward - we called a few days later to move forward. Different sales manager - sure you can put 5k down to take delivery later in the month but we will still try to sell it and your 5k is nonrefundable. WHAT? Oh and by the way, the price just went up by 15K...

We walked.

You should too. There is more to this story but these are the highlights

Dissatisfied with Service and calls being returned

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Needed service done on my Winnebago Travato for a roof leak. The service was not satisfactory.

I have been trying to resolve the issue for six months. Calls are not being returned and employees don't seem to really care whether customers are satisfied.

I paid a hefty price for the service to fix the leak. The issue was NOT resolved. Also, I had to drive five hours one way to have the service done.

I asked for a reimbursement of $675 which General RV, Ashland VA, was not willing to do. I'm still waiting to hear from Ben Christiansen, the manager!

The service department

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had an appointment on May 28th with the service department, Danny Browder was my great service advisor. Answered all my questions and it was a great experience.

He was very polite! Great job!! Didn't expect that. I also didn't have the power on in the unit so my backup camera was not on then on her way to lunch.

Brittany May stopped ask if I was okay and was everything all right. Then she took the time and walked over to my unit to show me how to turn the camera on. I did not believe she had done this for me and also asked if I wanted anything for lunch.

I said no thanks you and could not believe the manager would do this for me on her lunch break. I have never had such excellent service ever before I thank you Brittany and Danny for excellent general RV center Ashland service department experience service department rocks

Will not return a deposit of 10000 that we put down on a used motor home

We are in our mid to late 70s. We talked to General RV in Birch Run, MI.

They told us that they had a nice used motor in North Canton, Ohio. We had to put down $5000, so we traveled down to look at it. It was not in good shape, but they said they would fix it and said we had to put down another $5000, and it was non-refundable. We told them that the MI salesperson said it was refundable.

He said, 'Don't worry about it, just sign.' Now they refuse to give our money back.

We would never do business with General RV. I don't believe that they can be trusted.

Frustrated and feeling financially taken advantage of.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Trey the financial guy. Sold us a high dollar warranty.

My wife and I ask Trey what does the warranty cover. Trey looked us both eye to eye and said IT COVERS BUMPER TO BUMBER So we purchased the service contract. There were things needing fixed on are RV during the negotiation of the purchase that were to fixed prior to picking up the RV up. NOTHING WAS FIXED, When we showed are concerns we were told that Just take it home and Im sure you will find some other issues and bring it back on 1 st service and will take care of it.

. When we brought the RV back for service JODiI the service advisor told us the things that were broken prior to the purchase are not going to be covered. AND FROM THERE WE HAVE BEEN GOSTED. and having to call every day to get some kind of resolution.

THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT TO HEAR TO SELL A RV. $ 160,000.00 Heart ache.

PLEASE LOOK AT THERE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM GENERAL RV and GOD BLESS YOU IF YOU DO .

Problems with my new destination trailor

I bought my new 2024 Salem grand 44 view trailer at General RV in Dover Florida. I paid cash for it and bought an extended warranty.

So I do love the trailer but I having some issues with the patio awning. And now Ive been without hot water for four days and cannot figure out why. I have also called Forest River to try to get this issue resolved several times and nobody has called me back. Ive called General RV to try to get some help.

And with no help still out of hot water is a serious issue at the moment.

I do know that I can take it in there, but its too huge to move back-and-forth when I have small issues somebody should come out and help me fix these problems. I am very unhappy with this lack of help with these issues that Im having, I would not recommend General RV to anyone!
