New RV $250K broke down two hours from show room they provided (0) HELP
- Online deal was smooth, but on-site staff did not know the sales rep.
- Dealership could not service Freightliner chassis; follow-up was poor.
We purchased an RV through General RV, Salisbury N.C. completing the transaction with the assistance of an online sales representative and finance manager.
Although we were not aware or informed that the sales rep was a Hybrid worker. We were pleased with the deal negotiated online.
When we arrived at the dealership in ***, N.C. 600 miles from home we were greeted by staff that didn't know our sales rep. This was a jaw-dropper.
They quickly placed us with another staff member for assistance. We completed basic orientation of the camper, tech was thorough with camper, although we didn't receive any detailed information on dashboard and toggle that operate transmission. We finalized paperwork and left for home in the afternoon. I-40 is horrible with construction, best to travel nighttime when traffic is minimum.
About hour and half the check engine light came on. We took exit at rest stop called the dealer for support. The young lady asked the maintenance department they informed her they aren't qualified to work on freightliner chassis. She gave us a number to call, our reception was horrible, so we decided to go up highway to next town/exit.
We attempted the number she gave us, attempted to them back they were closed for the day. We called AAA two later still no one has showed up, not a good part of town. Wife and I noticed the reservoir cap for the radiator didn't look to be on correctly. I removed put it on correctly, problem solved the vehicle wasn't running hot, I just figured the codes would need reset so we headed home.
The truck started losing power, so we parked in a *** parking lot and tried to contact mobile service tech. We decided to bed down until morning, contacted Freightliner Hotline they got us towed to Premier truck repairs ***, Tn. This group was awesome called daily if not twice to give us updates The Dealership NEVER called until after 5 days when we gave them 0 review. What kind of company sales peoples retirement, bucket list dreams and never follow-up.
Tried to talk with General Manager but it went to his voicemail, excuse had 60 plus VM and hasn't checked for awhile.
This SHOULD OF BEEN A EASY FIX, SHOULD HAVE TOWED THE RV BACK TO DEALER AND PROVIDED US A PLACE SLEEP EVEN OUR OLD RV.
Talked with online reps I guess they didn't think they should share info with dealership. If we wouldn't filled out survey they would have never done a follow-up call, EVEN AFTER WE TOLD THEM WE NEEDED ASSISTANCE THEY NEVER FOLLOWED UP.
No communication system is broke

- Bought a camper from Ocala RV in February.
- In March, mattress not covered; homeless issues cited.
- Delivered Apr 18 after two attempts; wrong size.
Purchase a camper from Ocala RV the last day of February. The first week of March, I called them to tell them that I wasn't happy with the mattress because it wasn't covered, and they said they had problems with homeless people, so I didn't want to sleep on that mattress. Last Saturday, which was April 18th, they said they were going to deliver a mattress, and they did finally after two different attempts in the same day, and now it's the wrong size.

Do not do business with this location of General RV
I bought a very expensive diesel pusher last summer and every aspect of the transaction has been horrible.
Sales, vehicle delivery, parts and service have been horrible. I ended up having to go to the factory in Indiana to get my rig serviced. Advisors dont return calls (repeatedly-not an isolated incident) and when you have an appointment to get your rig serviced-thats only an appointment with an advisor; it will likely be several weeks before your rig actually makes it inside a bay to begin the actual work. The process is fundamentally flawed.
They will not connect you with the service manager either. They list various department heads on their website but no mention of the service manager. Why is that?
When you have an appointment at the factory; you have an appointment in the shop that day. Buyers should only buy a brand from this dealer that offers factory service and you should be prepared to take your rig to the factory for service.
In my case, the factory did a fantastic job. Full days drive to Indiana but it was well worth it.
Buyers should know what they are getting into up front.
- Big facility with strong brands sold and large product inventory
- Horrible sales vehicle delivery parts and service
Preferred solution: Improved service and concern for their customer

Verified Reviewer- Five years of inspections ($200+ each) were never submitted to NWAN.
- The warranty was voided and the reviewer faces potential repair costs.
Unfortunately, I cannot rate it below 1 star, but If you're thinking about trusting General RV with your investment, let me save you thousands of dollars and years of frustration: don't.
For five consecutive years -- 11/26/2020, 11/26/2021, 11/26/2022, 11/26/2023, and 11/26/2024 -- I paid over $200 per inspection to meet the requirements of my Forever RV warranty through NWAN Inc. I scheduled the inspections on time, paid in full, and relied on General RV to do what any competent dealer should: submit the inspection reports to the warranty provider.
They didn't.
Not once.
And here's the kicker: I was never informed that I had to personally submit these reports until this year.. No email. No phone call. No paperwork.
No verbal instruction. Nothing. Just silence. Now, after NWAN voided my warranty, General RV claims they "notified" me.
That's a lie -- and a lazy one at that. If they had any proof of communication, they'd have shown it. They didn't -- because it doesn't exist. When i \called and talked to the manager, she apologized and i should try to contact NWAN and plead ignorance, and maybe they would reinstate my warranty.
Something that they could have done but did not offer to do.
This isn't a one-off mistake. It's a five-year pattern of negligence. Five missed submissions. Five chances to do their job.
Five failures. And now I'm left with a voided warranty and no recourse -- all because General RV couldn't be bothered to follow through on the most basic administrative responsibility.
Let's be clear: I held up my end of the deal. I paid for the inspections. I showed up on time.
I trusted their process. And they failed me -- repeatedly. Their incompetence has now exposed me to thousands of dollars in potential repair costs, all because they couldn't send a report. Upon scheduling service, they offer a complimentary inspection, and they always seem to find items that require additional service at additional cost, I might add.
General RV is a textbook example of what happens when a company prioritizes sales over service, and profit over integrity.
They'll smile through the sale, take your money, and vanish when it's time to protect your investment. If you value your warranty, your time, or your sanity, stay far away from General RV.
They don't just drop the ball -- they bury it, deny it existed, and send you the bill.
I will never ever go back to that place. Avoid General RV like your wallet depends on it -- because it does

Would not return my deposit. Salesman said my deposit was refundable.
“I have never seen General RV keep a deposit. We do not operate that way.” Then Sales Manager says “If we refund your deposit we will legally have to give everyone their deposit back”.General RV sales tactics push hard for a deposit in order for the customer to get a final price quote, then use it as leverage to sell the vehicle. What they do is probably legal but pushes the boundary of business ethics and honesty.

- New Winnebago 2026 22M refrigerator broke the day we picked it up.
- Awaiting repair approval; still at Salisbury shop since July 1.
- Please call tomorrow.
Handle the problems!
Why should a customer that has paid for a new $120,000 plus RV wait for permission from the company to repair a compressor on a brand new refrigerator that was broken the day we picked it up.
They let us take RV because of camping commitments we already had.
Our camper was taken back to our purchase location to be fixed on July1.
As of today it is still sitting at the shop waiting for someone there to get permission to fix a broken appliance.
Wheres the common sense here a new refrigerator that has never been used should be under some kind of warranty if not youre buying from the wrong company. I need an answer to why its taking so long to fix this issue.
If this is how General RV procedure works in repairing new products you will fail as a company. The young lady in the service department hands are tied and I cant blame her but someone at that dealership in Salisbury has dropped the ball.
I need to get an answer because we have other camping commitments in July. I need to get a call by tomorrow on this issue.

Verified Reviewer |Unresolved issues
- Valor has unresolved issues after 3 dealer repairs.
- Seeks immediate escalation and a direct factory/dealership response.
Before you sign any paperwork, do a very detailed walkthrough! Have them fix everything first before you sign and pay for anything. This is the 3rd time my trailer has been at the shop, going on 1 month now absurd and very disappointed.
Despite returning the trailer to the dealership 3 times for repairs, many of the problems still remain unresolved. This ongoing situation has not only caused frustration but has also disrupted my plans and undermined the trust I placed in your brand. I believe I have been patient and cooperative throughout this process, but the lack of resolution and accountability is unacceptable. Once again, I was told that my RV repairs would be done by no later than next week.
Today I came to find out that parts won't be in for several weeks now, and I have to go get my trailer again, drive it home, and when parts come in, I have to take it back. Well, guess what? I don't work for you, and I don't get paid to do that. I'm sure you guys are compensated by Alliance for whatever you do!
What about me? YOUR CUSTOMER? I have another trip scheduled for the end of the month, and I'm going to have to call it off once again. I am requesting that this matter be escalated immediately to ensure that all outstanding issues are addressed thoroughly and permanently.
I would appreciate a direct response from the factory and your dealership outlining the steps you will take to resolve this situation. My intention is not to be confrontational, but rather to seek a fair and timely resolution.
I chose your brand based on its reputation and quality, but I think I made a bad choice. My trailer is kept under an enclosed carport at all times, and I expect it super clean when I get it back, and I was told today that I may have to pay for that service.

Verified Reviewer |Communication and service
- General RV shows poor communication and slow service, with inverter issues and a $120 battery-check charge.
I really did not want to complain but not happy with General RV lack of communication and service. We have a Mercedes spinner custom van that in 2022 attempted to have it serviced at General RV went round and round with one service manager and finally after 2-3 months never got any place and finally just brought the unit back home.
Still having a problem recently and 22,025 decided to give General RV, a second chance.
Took them a few weeks to figure out the problem needed to order a new inverter took three weeks for an inverter to come in which I couldve bought online and had chipped overnight. Brought the unit home and ended up everything shut down. Contacted General RV took it back down realize they had installed the wrong inverter. They once again ordered the right inverter took two weeks with numerous calls when it was coming in cause because they never returned a call and finally had it in replaced the inverter which the battery feeds the inverter but they charged us $120 to check the battery make sure it was strong enough to feed the inverter.
Question the bill and its been now four days since I had talked to the representative and nobody has returned a call. Once again between poor communication and a very slow service department hard to recommend general RV at this time.
User's recommendation: at the present time very difficult to recommend General RV to anybody for service

- Dealer promised the same deal but required end-month delivery.
- Trade-in was taken; the new RV wasn't ready.
- Taxes and registration caused delays.
A friend of mine bought a beautiful NeXus motor home from General RV in IL. I wanted the same one.
The one I wanted was in FL, Dover specifically. They promised that I could get the same deal but I would have to take delivery of it before the end of the month which was the next day. I'm in SC. I was also trading in my old RV and they said they needed to take possession of that before they could finalize the deal.
So, they proposed that I drive my RV up to NC, drop it off, and they would deliver the new RV to my house to the tune of about $5,000. Ummm NO. I told them I was going to drive down that night and deliver my old RV to them. I packed up essentials, threw the dogs in the RV and drive 10 hours.
I get there and the RV is not ready. I did the walk through and gave them a punch list of things I expected to be done before I left. I stayed there two days and finally told them I needed to leave. By this time, they already took possession of my old RV and did not complete much on the new one.
I told them I would have my guy take care of the things that could be done. They agreed and walked away.
I actually didn't know about the known gas tank issue until I was headed home. I got to Jacksonville, FL and decided to stop for gas. 4 different gas pumps and 45 minutes later!!!
Yea, oh BTW it's a known issue. Ummmm no one thought of fixing it??? I circled back down the highway to the Jacksonville General RV to which they confirmed that the batteries weren't charging and I noticed that the fridge bin was cracked and needed replacing. They took pictures of the bin and said they placed an order.
They also said they would be shipping it to me directly.
I arrived on Oct 31st, finalized the paperwork on Nov1st, and left Nov 2nd. They were supposed to transfer my old tag in addition to getting me missing parts to the motorhome (curtain, tie backs, mirror, fridge bin, etc.). I also realized that I overpaid for extended warranty work to the tune of $25k. They were definitely sneaky with the way they presented the warranty.
Since I was hanging around the whole time waiting on them, it gave me time to really read the details of my paperwork. I requested that the extended warranty be cancelled to which they replied that I would need to sign some paperwork to get that done.
In December, General RV argued that I need to pay the taxes on the new motorhome before they completed the registration transfer. I told them that in the state of SC my tag taxes are not due until August, and I called the tax assessor's office to confirm this was true. But General RV insisted that I needed to go pay the taxes regardless and provide them proof.
First, they were saying I needed to pay sales taxes and not property tax and then it changed to property taxes. This in and of itself was a long-debated argument because SC has a $500 cap on sales tax for this type of sale. The tax argument started a month after the sale. They sat on the paperwork for a month.
They legally had 45 days to get this completed.
In the meantime, SC DMV sends me a letter stating that because I no longer have insurance on my (old) RV that I had to turn the tags in immediately or I could get fined and have my license suspended. Had the dealership done what they were supposed to do in the time in which they should have done it, this would not have been an issue. So, I had to go down to the DMV and show them everything I had to remedy that.
In the meantime, someone emailed the tax assessor's office the purchase agreement. I know this because I went to pay my house property taxes and saw that the new RV taxes were listed.
First of all, odd because they aren't due until August, and this concerned me that maybe the dealer requested a new plate which is not what I paid for. I called both the assessor's office and the DMV. The assessor's office could not tell me who emailed them the documentation but also told me that once the transferred plate is in the system, to call them back and they would fix it. Okay, yet another thing I have to do.
I'm guessing that the dealer is trying to force me to pay the taxes now, get the receipt they want. Not happening. I also discovered through this that when the dealer bumped up the price of my RV and bumped up the price of my trade in for the same amount that it increased the amount of taxes I would be paying on the new RV. I did question this when they wanted to do this, and they said it wouldn't affect my taxes.
They were incorrect. It did by several hundred dollars.
My guy fixed everything they should have fixed soon after I got it home and NeXus themselves took care of it. The national sales rep for NeXus was great and is fully aware of my experience with General RV. I have nothing but good things to say about NeXus.
As of Jan 6th (60+ days later),
No registration
No replacement parts
No cancellation of extended warranty
Dover store confirmed the Jacksonville store did not order replacement bin for the fridge
This has prevented me from driving the RV anywhere.
I can't refinance, which was my intention to get lower financing rate, because underwriting requires me to provide the registration. I'm constantly having to follow up with anyone. NO ONE follows up when they say they will. No one.
And everyone keeps passing these problems off to the next person. And, every time I call, they sound like they are so surprised that I'm as upset as I am. No one knows what they are doing there.
I have filed complaints with Florida Highway Safety, Florida's Attorney General, and BBB. For the FL Highway Safety, they required a dealer license number for the form which I did not have.
Conveniently, no one at the dealership knew what I was talking about. I was transferred to some corporate person who also claimed she had no idea what I was talking about but claimed she would call me back. That never happened. They knew why I needed the license number, and you can't have a dealership without this license.
I did more research and found the FL database that gave me that license number and immediately submitted the complaint.
You have been warned. Once you sign the loan, they will ghost you.
I'm beyond annoyed with these people. Have no idea how they stay in business.
- Once you sign the loan
- You are on your own
Preferred solution: Promised replacement parts, vehicle registration they were paid to process (this site needs to update the dropdown asking for where this issue happened as this Dover store is not listed)

- Repairs dragged 2+ months, window fell out, back door not fixed, parts not in, warranty denied.
We bought a new Alliance Valor 36v11, 5th wheel. this was not a cheap RV, paid $101,000 for it.
Purchased in October 2024, multiple issues from minor to major. When we bought this ,We told them it was to live in as we lost our home to hurricane Milton. They took it in for repair and it was there for over 2 months, when they brought it back, only 1 issue was resolved, they told us all was fixed before they returned it. We called after they returned it to us and asked them about the other repairs, they did not replace the window that fell out, and did not fix the back door that i have to use a bungee to keep closed, We were told that the parts had not come in and it would have to be returned to the dealership when the parts came in.
WTF. Also when it was returned here, the entire under belly protector was hanging off, after a month of waiting for that answer, we were told alliance would not cover it under warranty, How is this our problem, they want us to pay for it. many other issues and some extremely rude people there.

Verified ReviewerPoor management choice of ridding two customers.
- We felt dismissed after a cash purchase mention and won't be returning.
- Suggest a newbie area with walkthroughs, pricing, and a short intro video.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, my fiancé and I decided to stop in to look around new and used campers/RVs/popups in hopes of seeing what fits our interest. The salesman, Mike, was very nice though excused himself for a minute.
A few minutes later, here comes the manager saying his little corporate compliment about the salesman and ends by saying we can take the salesman’s card and communicate to him what we are looking for. A very obvious way to say they were done. We weren't there for 30 minutes. I feel that when a cash purchase was mentioned, they lost interest.
We expected to be treated well and receive professional communication rather than leaving as if they blew us off. Well, we will not be returning, and many of our soon-to-be and retired friends and family will hear our experience to keep them from wasting their time and money with this company.
To follow, as for every concern or complaint, I always learned to follow with a suggestion. My suggestion for perhaps a quality improvement for this company is to have a specific area (for first-time camper newbies undecided about what to purchase) for walkthroughs, pricing, and a short video or introduction.
Instead of the manager coming over making us feel unwelcome, we are at the prime of our lives ready to vacation. This company just lost many future customers. As a healthcare professional, I was appalled with this manager on duty at 1700 June 3, 2025. To add, he needs to take a personable leadership seminar to assist this company from folding due to unhappy customers not returning.
Keep in mind and focus on customers who are at the age to use their investments for large purchases. This experience was so unfavorable on their behalf.

- AC issue couldn't be replicated; they couldn't fix it, charged $560 for a repair that didn't fix it; mobile tech fixed it, and refund was denied.
They told me under no circumstance's would I be getting a refund for $560 I spent to fix my AC and the repair fixed NOTHING, and they had No logical reason for their decision
I took my motorhome to General RV in Winter Garden, Florida, for a problem with my AC. It was randomly coming on and off; it would work fine and then all of a sudden it would shut off and come right back on and off and on again. I was told by the service adviser that they would not be able to fix it if they couldn't replicate the problem. They ran the unit all day, and it ran fine.
They called me to let me know they couldn't fix it because it was working great. A few days later, they called back and told me, 'We have found the problem with your AC. We have ordered the part and just need your approval to repair.' I was very happy to get it fixed, so I gave my approval. After picking up the RV, the very next day the problem was still there.
Keep in mind they never were able to replicate the problem, as I was told, but assured me this was the fix. I called them, and their response was, 'You approved the repair, so we will not refund your $560.' They told me to bring it back but would not be able to fix it if they couldn't replicate it. A week later, I had a mobile RV tech fix the problem in 20 minutes; it was a faulty freeze sensor. I told them this, and their response was, 'Too bad, we are not refunding your money because you approved the repair.' Just my opinion, but I will never go back to a business that takes this position, and I highly recommend no one else take their RV to this business.
Still no response from upper management from this absolutely horrible company. In my opinion, this company ripped me off for $560 for a repair that fixed nothing. The sad part is they don't care; their only response is, 'We are sorry it didn't work, but we have decided to keep your money anyway.' Great job, Mr. Davis and Mr.
Baidas; you're running a top-notch organization. Not.
