I talked with Steve the store manager. He said since I signed the "packet" he would not address my situation.
The "packet" is their way of using smoke and mirrors to steal from you which I assume he is in charge of! Watch out read every thing do not sign anything.
no joy! have been in contact with people at this place.
all agreed that i was wronged.
they all said they would be back with me by end of of day, still not called back after 2 days. I feel like im getting the bait and switch again.
no one has contacted me i guess they just dont care.
deceptive practice at this company
The added options on the deal had no authorization from me. They raised the price on the declared sale price.
When I decided I wanted to cancel the deal, they would not return the down payment. They said it was a nonrefundable deposit! Do not sign anything. They will use that signature to put on other documents via computer.
As far as I am concerned, they are thieves! Run away.

Verified Reviewer |New product that doesn’t work
Handle the problems!
Why should a customer that has paid for a new $120,000 plus RV wait for permission from the company to repair a compressor on a brand new refrigerator that was broken the day we picked it up.
They let us take RV because of camping commitments we already had.
Our camper was taken back to our purchase location to be fixed on July1.
As of today it is still sitting at the shop waiting for someone there to get permission to fix a broken appliance.
Wheres the common sense here a new refrigerator that has never been used should be under some kind of warranty if not youre buying from the wrong company. I need an answer to why its taking so long to fix this issue.
If this is how General RV procedure works in repairing new products you will fail as a company. The young lady in the service department hands are tied and I cant blame her but someone at that dealership in Salisbury has dropped the ball.
I need to get an answer because we have other camping commitments in July. I need to get a call by tomorrow on this issue.
Winnebago 2026 22M Cool Mist.
Thanks, Danny Butler

A friend of mine bought a beautiful NeXus motor home from General RV in IL. I wanted the same one.
The one I wanted was in FL, Dover specifically. They promised that I could get the same deal but I would have to take delivery of it before the end of the month which was the next day. I'm in SC. I was also trading in my old RV and they said they needed to take possession of that before they could finalize the deal.
So, they proposed that I drive my RV up to NC, drop it off, and they would deliver the new RV to my house to the tune of about $5,000. Ummm NO. I told them I was going to drive down that night and deliver my old RV to them. I packed up essentials, threw the dogs in the RV and drive 10 hours.
I get there and the RV is not ready. I did the walk through and gave them a punch list of things I expected to be done before I left. I stayed there two days and finally told them I needed to leave. By this time, they already took possession of my old RV and did not complete much on the new one.
I told them I would have my guy take care of the things that could be done. They agreed and walked away.
I actually didn't know about the known gas tank issue until I was headed home. I got to Jacksonville, FL and decided to stop for gas. 4 different gas pumps and 45 minutes later!!!
Yea, oh BTW it's a known issue. Ummmm no one thought of fixing it??? I circled back down the highway to the Jacksonville General RV to which they confirmed that the batteries weren't charging and I noticed that the fridge bin was cracked and needed replacing. They took pictures of the bin and said they placed an order.
They also said they would be shipping it to me directly.
I arrived on Oct 31st, finalized the paperwork on Nov1st, and left Nov 2nd. They were supposed to transfer my old tag in addition to getting me missing parts to the motorhome (curtain, tie backs, mirror, fridge bin, etc.). I also realized that I overpaid for extended warranty work to the tune of $25k. They were definitely sneaky with the way they presented the warranty.
Since I was hanging around the whole time waiting on them, it gave me time to really read the details of my paperwork. I requested that the extended warranty be cancelled to which they replied that I would need to sign some paperwork to get that done.
In December, General RV argued that I need to pay the taxes on the new motorhome before they completed the registration transfer. I told them that in the state of SC my tag taxes are not due until August, and I called the tax assessor's office to confirm this was true. But General RV insisted that I needed to go pay the taxes regardless and provide them proof.
First, they were saying I needed to pay sales taxes and not property tax and then it changed to property taxes. This in and of itself was a long-debated argument because SC has a $500 cap on sales tax for this type of sale. The tax argument started a month after the sale. They sat on the paperwork for a month.
They legally had 45 days to get this completed.
In the meantime, SC DMV sends me a letter stating that because I no longer have insurance on my (old) RV that I had to turn the tags in immediately or I could get fined and have my license suspended. Had the dealership done what they were supposed to do in the time in which they should have done it, this would not have been an issue. So, I had to go down to the DMV and show them everything I had to remedy that.
In the meantime, someone emailed the tax assessor's office the purchase agreement. I know this because I went to pay my house property taxes and saw that the new RV taxes were listed.
First of all, odd because they aren't due until August, and this concerned me that maybe the dealer requested a new plate which is not what I paid for. I called both the assessor's office and the DMV. The assessor's office could not tell me who emailed them the documentation but also told me that once the transferred plate is in the system, to call them back and they would fix it. Okay, yet another thing I have to do.
I'm guessing that the dealer is trying to force me to pay the taxes now, get the receipt they want. Not happening. I also discovered through this that when the dealer bumped up the price of my RV and bumped up the price of my trade in for the same amount that it increased the amount of taxes I would be paying on the new RV. I did question this when they wanted to do this, and they said it wouldn't affect my taxes.
They were incorrect. It did by several hundred dollars.
My guy fixed everything they should have fixed soon after I got it home and NeXus themselves took care of it. The national sales rep for NeXus was great and is fully aware of my experience with General RV. I have nothing but good things to say about NeXus.
As of Jan 6th (60+ days later),
No registration
No replacement parts
No cancellation of extended warranty
Dover store confirmed the Jacksonville store did not order replacement bin for the fridge
This has prevented me from driving the RV anywhere.
I can't refinance, which was my intention to get lower financing rate, because underwriting requires me to provide the registration. I'm constantly having to follow up with anyone. NO ONE follows up when they say they will. No one.
And everyone keeps passing these problems off to the next person. And, every time I call, they sound like they are so surprised that I'm as upset as I am. No one knows what they are doing there.
I have filed complaints with Florida Highway Safety, Florida's Attorney General, and BBB. For the FL Highway Safety, they required a dealer license number for the form which I did not have.
Conveniently, no one at the dealership knew what I was talking about. I was transferred to some corporate person who also claimed she had no idea what I was talking about but claimed she would call me back. That never happened. They knew why I needed the license number, and you can't have a dealership without this license.
I did more research and found the FL database that gave me that license number and immediately submitted the complaint.
You have been warned. Once you sign the loan, they will ghost you.
I'm beyond annoyed with these people. Have no idea how they stay in business.

Below Poor repair service for 2022 Newmar Canyon Star
Left with a repair job from General RV that is so horrible and compromised that we must drive to Newmar Service Repair in Nappanee, Indiana. Newmar now has to correct the damaged floor job from General RV Ocala, Florida.
Repair and expenses will run us approx. $13,500. when all said and done. Previous expenses, estimates, hotel stays etc...were never reimbursed.
Should not be a recommended service center for Newmar in my opinion. Did not have qualified experience to fix service request.
Technician was familiar with Tiffin not Newmar. Estimate from General RVbhad repair job of hyper extending slide which Newmar said they do not do

We bought a new Alliance Valor 36v11, 5th wheel. this was not a cheap RV, paid $101,000 for it.
Purchased in October 2024, multiple issues from minor to major. When we bought this ,We told them it was to live in as we lost our home to hurricane Milton. They took it in for repair and it was there for over 2 months, when they brought it back, only 1 issue was resolved, they told us all was fixed before they returned it. We called after they returned it to us and asked them about the other repairs, they did not replace the window that fell out, and did not fix the back door that i have to use a bungee to keep closed, We were told that the parts had not come in and it would have to be returned to the dealership when the parts came in.
WTF. Also when it was returned here, the entire under belly protector was hanging off, after a month of waiting for that answer, we were told alliance would not cover it under warranty, How is this our problem, they want us to pay for it. many other issues and some extremely rude people there.
Alliance is just as bad. great people when your purchasing but then get ready for the after sale warranty BS

Verified Reviewer |Poor management choice of ridding two customers.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, my fiancé and I decided to stop in to look around new and used campers/RVs/popups in hopes of seeing what fits our interest. The salesman, Mike, was very nice though excused himself for a minute.
A few minutes later, here comes the manager saying his little corporate compliment about the salesman and ends by saying we can take the salesman’s card and communicate to him what we are looking for. A very obvious way to say they were done. We weren't there for 30 minutes. I feel that when a cash purchase was mentioned, they lost interest.
We expected to be treated well and receive professional communication rather than leaving as if they blew us off. Well, we will not be returning, and many of our soon-to-be and retired friends and family will hear our experience to keep them from wasting their time and money with this company.
To follow, as for every concern or complaint, I always learned to follow with a suggestion. My suggestion for perhaps a quality improvement for this company is to have a specific area (for first-time camper newbies undecided about what to purchase) for walkthroughs, pricing, and a short video or introduction.
Instead of the manager coming over making us feel unwelcome, we are at the prime of our lives ready to vacation. This company just lost many future customers. As a healthcare professional, I was appalled with this manager on duty at 1700 June 3, 2025. To add, he needs to take a personable leadership seminar to assist this company from folding due to unhappy customers not returning.
Keep in mind and focus on customers who are at the age to use their investments for large purchases. This experience was so unfavorable on their behalf.

They told me under no circumstance's would I be getting a refund for $560 I spent to fix my AC and the repair fixed NOTHING, and they had No logical reason for their decision
I took my motorhome to General RV in Winter Garden, Florida, for a problem with my AC. It was randomly coming on and off; it would work fine and then all of a sudden it would shut off and come right back on and off and on again. I was told by the service adviser that they would not be able to fix it if they couldn't replicate the problem. They ran the unit all day, and it ran fine.
They called me to let me know they couldn't fix it because it was working great. A few days later, they called back and told me, 'We have found the problem with your AC. We have ordered the part and just need your approval to repair.' I was very happy to get it fixed, so I gave my approval. After picking up the RV, the very next day the problem was still there.
Keep in mind they never were able to replicate the problem, as I was told, but assured me this was the fix. I called them, and their response was, 'You approved the repair, so we will not refund your $560.' They told me to bring it back but would not be able to fix it if they couldn't replicate it. A week later, I had a mobile RV tech fix the problem in 20 minutes; it was a faulty freeze sensor. I told them this, and their response was, 'Too bad, we are not refunding your money because you approved the repair.' Just my opinion, but I will never go back to a business that takes this position, and I highly recommend no one else take their RV to this business.
Still no response from upper management from this absolutely horrible company. In my opinion, this company ripped me off for $560 for a repair that fixed nothing. The sad part is they don't care; their only response is, 'We are sorry it didn't work, but we have decided to keep your money anyway.' Great job, Mr. Davis and Mr.
Baidas; you're running a top-notch organization. Not.

This is a horrible dealership. Just look at all the reviews, 1.7 out of 5??
Seems to be a pattern with this company and at too many of their dealerships. Cannot get any return calls, one excuse after the other, and a sales manager who led me to believe he was getting things done with the service department. He then threatens me if I pursue this case any further (I have the text messages). Unfortunately, I have now secured legal and civil remedies to resolve this situation.
Contacted corporate, no response or concern.

I'm tired of seeing poor reviews for some of the most trivial things! I believe that good service should be revealed as well!
I have not purchased one RV from GRV, but we just recently bought our second, larger travel trailer from them! Not only were we treated with respect from EVERY employee we came in contact with, but the salesman went above and beyond what I expected. We got a more than fair price and financing & insurance was easy peasy with their professional team.
I have no problem recommending General RV to our friends and family!

Verified ReviewerUnethical Sales
Its a lot of fun to watch Matt and his videos. He represents General RV and encourages us to call and use his Matt Bucks to buy their RV's.
He truly seems to care about people and so you think perhaps General RV cares about people. Sadly, they don't and pressurized sales tactics are there only currency for human interaction. Matt recently had a video of a show in Ocala, where he showed us active Class B's and C's for sale with show pricing. The second RV he showed was something new to me and something I would have like to actively pursue, a $70K Thor Pasadena SE21.
However I could not find this RV anywhere, and even the Thor website didn't have this model and Thor representatives could fail to find it. Chatted with General and no one seemed to know it existed. Routed to an email with RILEY who asked me my budget? Why?
This person never answered, emailed again, still nothing about the $70k RV. This time they asked if I filled out a trade form. Why again? Got a weird deflection email that was an attempt to insult me.
My conclusion, this was a bait and switch, showing a 1 off low ball model to get us in the door to buy something else, obviously more expensive. I have called General before the last time I was RV shopping and was strong armed by another mean spirited sales professional.
So this isn't a one off, this is the bread and butter of General RV, cold-hearted deception. Keep looking folks, there has got to be kindness and honesty somewhere in RV sales.
Preferred solution: A warning to other buyers attempting to get an RV at published sale prices.

UPDATE July 30th, 2024 and we're still under repair we paid General RV $900 for each slide topper and $600 to install. All were installed defective.
General RV isn't paying for that Brinkley is.We are still fighting with our credit card company NOT TO PAY the $1,300 for the watchdog and faulty installation that created this situation.
This is our second appeal. Next year we're going to the Tampa and Jacksonville shows with some AVOID GENERAL RV ASHLAND T-shirts.I hope to also connect with one of the Brinkley owners we met in Tampa last year to thank him for all his company has done to stand behind us.
We ordered our Brinkley at the Tampa Super show back in January. We are from New Hampshire and we were encouraged to go to the Ashland store because "they were a more seasoned store than the new Pennsylvania store".
Our experience with the Ashland sales team prior to picking up our new RV was horrible - rude, arrogant and extremely difficult to communicate with.
We requested a Lithium Ion battery and were told that no one ever requests that. I asked why then do they carry them in their service department. We explained that we hired a certified private inspector and wanted to make sure that the slide toppers we purchased were installed along with the battery prior to inspection. They claimed they wouldn't do that because if we arrived to pick up our new Brinkley and refused the order they would now be on the hook for the entire RV.
We signed a purchase and sale agreement at the Tampa show, a significant downpayment was given. We couldn't back out. They moved forward and installed the slide toppers, which two of the three have already become dislodged. See photo below.
When our inspector was a week away from inspection they said that he couldn't come on the property.
It wasn't that he didn't have the proper qualifications, they said they "just didn't work well with him". Finally they agreed to let our inspector come in and do the inspection.
Fast forward to May 15, 2024 when we go to pick up our brand new Brinkley Z3400. General RV highly recommended a Watchdog hard wired surge protector. We agreed and had them wire it in.
We spent the night in the General RV parking lot. They hooked us up to 50AMP service. We went to bed at 9:30 and got up at 3am to start our drive to a campground in CT. We arrived in Connecticut seventeen hours later, plugged into shore power and the entire RV filled with horrible smelling gray smoke that flooded the whole interior.
Liquid was melting from two of the three TV's. GFI's blew and fried our vacuum cleaner. The Watchdog surge suppressor was miswired and uninspected by the General RV technician. It clearly says RED, WHITE, BLACK.
It took five hours for General RV to install that incorrectly. We're now at a campground on a holiday weekend with no power and no home, we're fulltime RV'ing. The items that needed replacement were two of the three TV's, Microwave, Hot Water Heater Board, Converter and the RV smelled like burning rubber.
We sat in the rain for three days with our 17 year old dog and no power. General RV asked if we'd be willing to drive back to VA.
We said no and they found a local dealer to diagnose and repair our home. The General Manager in Ashland went on vacation. After nine days not hearing from him and staying in a hotel we put a hold on the deposit which was taken on a credit card. We asked that General RV cover our food, lodging and replace our brand new vacuum cleaner.
We then released our deposit and it was at that time the General Manager decided that they would no longer reimburse or communicate with us because we had placed a hold on our deposit. Thankfully, Brinkley, even though this wasn't their fault stepped in and is paying for the remaining repairs and reimbursing our expenses.
This disaster starts from the top down - General Manager through to horrible sales managers in Ashland. If we buy another Brinkley we'll drive directly to Brinkley.
We're still under repair and have not yet camped. Avoid General RV, Ashland at ALL COSTS!!!
- Staff not properly trained to sell brinkley rvs
- Unresponsive and rude sales team
- General manager abandoned us and is extremely unprofessional
Preferred solution: I would like to know that other people won't suffer and repeat our experience.

Verified Reviewer |Terrible experience with this dealership.
I purchased an RV from this dealer in March 2024, excited to use my new unit. But that excitement quickly faded.
After only a week of use, the RV began leaking from the shower valve, causing extensive water damage to the wood cabinets in the kitchen area. I immediately contacted the dealer, who asked me to bring the unit back so they could fix the leak and order parts to repair the damage. After five days, I got a call saying the leak was fixed, but the materials to repair the damaged wood would take more time to arrive.
About two months later, I received a call that the parts had finally come in, and I took the unit back to get it fixed. After weeks of waiting, I went back to pick it up, expecting to see quality repairs.
Instead, I was horrified at the condition of the so-called "repairs." They had cut panels and patched them together, using wood fillers and wallpaper to cover up seams and missing parts. I called over the manager, Jerry, who agreed that the repairs were unacceptable and assured me the unit would be restored without shortcuts.
Unfortunately, the nightmare didnt end there. After two more months of silence, I called to get an update, only to be met with voicemail after voicemail. Three months later, I finally reached the service advisor, Craig, who told me the RV had been ready for weeks, but no one had reached out.
I requested pictures of the repairs to avoid another wasted trip, and once again, I saw the same shoddy workfilled wood, wallpaper tape, and caulking instead of proper replacement parts.
This has been one of the most frustrating experiences. I havent been able to use the RV since the first week I bought it, and Im continually met with poor-quality repairs and dismissive service.
At this point, I feel the only fair resolution is to be offered a replacement unit or a full refund. Avoid this dealer if youre looking for quality service and integrity in your purchase.
Preferred solution: Full refund

Poor Service
I bought a brand new 2022, Sundance 29.3 model from General RV In Elizabethtown PA. I used the unit 5 times before I had to take it back for service on the brakes that were no longer working.
They had my unit for five(5) months until they could get it in their shop to look at it and another month until they could get parts and get it repaired. That repair lasted another month until the brakes stopped working again. I took it back for service again and this time it took two(2) months to get it repaired. I called after two weeks to check on it and they told me they took it to West Chester PA to make the repairs without notifying me of the move.
They called me after the repair was completed and wanted me to go down to West Chester PA to pick it up. Keep in mind that I dropped it off in Elizabethtown PA. With West Chester PA being 50 miles from my house, I declined and told them to get it back to Elizabethtown PA for me to obtain the unit. With all that being said, I had it back for the same brake issue two(2) more times after the West Chester PA debacle.
I just got it back again and they seem to be working fine. Also keep in mind that each time I had problems both the brakes, General RV completed the prior service on it.
User's recommendation: Horrible dealer, do not buy from them. They want you in to buy your unit and out the door as quickly as possible. Communication is horrible. I had to beg them for information and for them to communicate with me. Did I say HORRIBLE.
Poor parts department
I called the parts and tried to buy a new mattress for my rv. The first person I talked to told me they needed my vin number I went and got it and called back, the guy I talked to told me tough luck they can't get it.
The RV was bought from them.
He was rude. Don't buy a RV from these people, if you do you're on your own for parts.

Verified ReviewerTerrible experience and unethical staff
Be very careful with this location and management team. I signed documents that in hindsight, I never should have.
They have you sign a document that basically gives them complete rights to withhold your deposit. They also have you sign a document that makes you liable for the unit (meaning you need insurance as soon as you walk out of the dealer and even before taking ownership) and "agree to store it at their location until delivery". This is prior to financing or any additional paperwork being done. I've bought RVs from other local dealers and NEVER had an experience like this.
I am now out $2,000 because General RV couldn't deliver the RV, initially offered me my deposit back but then back out of it. Here's how it unfolded for me. Consider yourself warned.
General RV sold a unit and agree to a delivery date of October 9, 2024 with outstanding recalls which initially was communicated would "stop sale". The recall which was announced by Winnebago and covered in the national news on August 16, 2024.
A total of 46 days passed from the time the recall was announced and the date of our agreement on October 2, 2024. Following our agreement, General RV had not contacted me until October 7, 2024 to inform me of the "national stop sale recall that just came across Mike's desk". This was another delay of several days.
A series of conversations were had between 12pm and 2pm on October 7th.
12:11pm - Mike left a VM which I can provide, stating there was a problem with delivery due to a national stop sale recall he just found out about.
12:13pm - I returned Mike's call, completely understanding of the situation. However, Mike did emphasize he didn't know when Winnebago would have a fix and when delivery could happen.
I specifically asked, if given this news I could cancel the deal and receive my deposit back. He responded with absolutely, we wouldn't hold you to a sale given the circumstances. I said I would speak with my wife and call him back .
12:24pm - I called and tried to reach Mike and he wasn't available. Left message.
1:29pm - After not getting a call back I tried Mike again.
This time reaching him. I informed him of the decision to cancel the sale and he was understanding. After though, I told him in transparency I knew the recall was not new and that other dealers were already fixing theirs. He was unaware of this.
The call ended with Mike confirming with me he would contact his team to initiate the refund of our deposit.
1:53pm - Mike calls me saying he has great news, that he did get in touch with Winnebago and they magically have a fix now that can happen in two days time allowing for delivery on Wednesday. I reminded him of our last conversation and he said they were still holding me to the sale. He quickly forgot about the conversation we had and how the 1:29pm call had ended.
While the timeline above is very condensed it by no means justifies how General RV is handling the situation. Not to mention the lack of trust that was created.
In short, an agreement of sale was made with a more than one month old recall that should have been flagged and accounted avoiding the situation that happened yesterday. My family had made significant changes to our plans after the 1:29pm call, in the short amount of time we will now incur additional costs as a result. All of this could have been avoided if General RV made a better effort.
10/23/2024
They could certainly refund it. However, they are choosing not to because it's the type of business they are.
Search Facebook and Reddit. I didn't do my homework and it cost me. I did not simply back out of the sale.
It's a lot more complex per the information above.
If my lost deposit helps other consumers take another look at what they are signing then I am okay with that. Best of luck General RV.
